Tauno Tiirats (born in 1991) has a PhD in the field of Mechanics of Solids, Materials and Surfaces (2021, Ecole Centrale de Nantes) and a Master’s degree in Computational Mechanics (2016, Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya & Ecole Centrale de Nantes). His research activities are in multiscale simulations, computational mechanics and numerical methods, with high focus on the Finite Element Analysis and molecular dynamics. In the MATTER project Tauno is a post-doc responsible for performing multiphysics simulations of various physical phenomena and material behavior. This involves particle simulations, continuum solutions and their coupling. An example project is investigation of vacuum arcing in the particle accelerators at CERN. Furthemore, he has had direct industrial research collaboration projects with international corporations like Vallourec Group and EDF (Électricité de France). By the end of 2022 Tauno has 5 publications.
